life through my phone...again.

1. Naked baby at the beach. Enough said.
2. Beck has a stuffed dog and bear that he loves to carry around.
3. We went camping down in Oceanside at Pendleton with some friends. One of my favorite spots! It was great.
4. Beck and his girlfriend Maya. First comes swinging together next come marriage.
5. B and I went to JCREW and i gave him that hat, he put it on, stood on this little platform and gave everyone a show. I need to put this kid in modeling, he was a natural. I really wish i got it on film.
6. Just being a little stud on the beach.
7. A daily...maybe hourly routine in our home. If its not the kitchen, its the bathroom or the shelves.
8. We went to the Santa Anita horse races and B loved it. Its a good thing P and I don't gamble cause we would be really bad. Especially me. I picked my horse by the color number they had on and I never won.
9. Went out to sushi for my sister Jill's birthday. love spending time with family!
10. At Beck's 1 year check-up the doctor suggested that we go see a neurologist because she thought that the right side of his face was a little slower than the left. We went to the specialist and B got to wear this sweet gown. The doctor didn't see anything wrong. So it was kind of pointless, but at least there is nothing to worry about. (not that i ever even noticed)
11. I took Paul (the little boy I watch every week) to Disneyland. Here we are in Mickey's house.
12. We go to the park about 3-4 times a week. The weather has been great and B loves going down the slide and playing in the sand. And I like to get out of the house.
13. Hiked the hollywood sign with B in the bjourn. it was a little challenging to have him sitting right on my growing belly. But we made it and the weather couldn't have been better.
14. Our nightly routine. B's hair is getting so long and crazy. I think he needs a trim but i just don't know if i can do it yet. but he loves brushing his teeth and looking at himself in the mirror.
15. All combed and clean.
16. Beck's new word is "doggie" if we are on a walk and he sees a dog he gets so excited and drops whatever he is doing to go say hi and he isn't scarred. he will literally put his face right in the dogs face, luckily no damage has been done, but sometimes i get worried if the dog will be friendly or not. So every once in a while i will take him to the pet store and we will play with the puppies. It's a good thing our place doesn't allow pets or i would have brought home about 5 dogs already. this chocolate lab played so well with b and b kept throwing the tennis ball to him and his smile was ear to ear. when we left the little puppy just watched us leave. it was so sad, i had to look the other way. One day Beck...one day!
17-18. I got a little crafty last week. Made these simple Valentine's decor. it was fun and cheap.
19. I was singing in the car the other day, i turn around and see B with his fingers in both ears. I obviously am not as good of a singer as i thought.
20. Beck is such a sweet boy....maybe a little too sweet. This is another boy that I watch during the week and Beck kissed him about 10 times on his head and then bent down right in front of his face and kissed him right on the lips. I got the picture at the perfect time. But later Pehrson and I were saying maybe we kiss him too much? Cause he just wants to kiss everyone.
21. I introduced Beck to licorice. What a sticky mess. But he was happy.
22. A couple of weeks ago the south pasadena mommy crew went to dland and here are all of our strollers. There were a lot of kids between us. It was fun.
23. Pehrson and I went to Disneyland on a friday night, rode a couple of rides and just enjoyed some quality family time. P hasn't been there since he was 8. So it was fun to go together.
24. Our friend Sumeet invited us over to his luxorious apt. complex. There were tennis courts, a track, bbq, pool, spa. It was awesome. We will probably be visiting more often.
25. Us in the heated pool. Glorious.
26. I just don't think there is anything sweeter than a sleeping baby. I love quiet drives with this boy.
27. And last but definitely not least. A belly shot. I am 21 weeks. And that belly is here to stay. I feel like I just popped over night. I still can't believe I am pregnant. I'm thrilled, i just can't believe we get to have another one. I feel SO good. I sometimes forget that i'm pergnant (don't hate me) but I think its because I am so distracted with Beck that this pregnancy is just easy. I get to see her at the doctors today and I can't wait. I live for the moments that i get to see her. Thats how I know everything is okay.

Well thats about all. I think I take too many pictures.

Baby girl

So we found out that we are having a baby girl! We are both very excited/scarred/anxious. It would have been easy to have another boy since we have all the stuff and we know how to do boy. But every mother wants a daughter! I can't wait to talk to her about boys and friends and life. And I can't wait to see Pehrson with a little girl. He is going to be wrapped around her little finger and I don't think he even knows how much he is going to love this little girl. I might embarrass him by saying this, but I thought it was so sweet. He asked me about braiding hair. He actually knows how to braid but he was wondering how to do a certain braid. Just the fact that he was thinking about it made my heart smile. And its a tradition to go out and buy a new little outfit on the day we find out the gender so we went to the store and I was going crazy (how do you not buy the whole store? girl stuff is so cute) Pehrson could tell I was very excited and said I could splurge a little. So we got a couple things. He is already giving into this little girl and I love it!

But just like everything there are worries. Girls are precious and get their feelings hurt too easily. I hope that she is a strong girl in her faith and standards. It is a wicked world and my job is to protect her. I hope I can. I hope I can be a good example to her. I hope she feels comfortable talking to me about anything. I hope that she is a nice girl and is friendly to everyone. I hope she doesn't leave people out. I hope she doesn't get left out. I hope she is happy with who she is and what she looks like. I hope she knows that her Heavenly Father loves her. I hope that she knows Pehrson and I love her.

We can't wait to meet her and hold her and love her.

I was at the Park the other day watching Beck climb on everything, playing with toys and random kids. He is such a happy kid right now. And it is so fun to take him everywhere.

But I was sitting on a swing thinking to myself. I LOVE THIS!! I love being a mom. It is the best thing I have ever done in my life. Just to watch him discover new things and get excited when he figures it out it so amazing. And that smile he gives me is just too good to be true. I feel lucky every day to know him and have him in my family. Right now its hard to imagine loving another one as much BUT i know the second we meet it will be like I never knew life without her. I can't wait for that moment and to get to know her and have her sweet spirit in our home.

We love you so much baby. Beck has been waiting for you to join him! I'm sure that if he could talk he would tell us all about how wonderful you are and how fun you are and maybe what your name is supposed to be?!? =]

But take your time. And know that we love you to the end of the world and back.

DisneyLand!

So we finally got them! I have lived in southern california my whole life (pretty much) and have never had one. Never really had a huge desire. But now that I have a little one I thought it would be fun. And it is! The first time we went (last week) Beck was a little overwhelmed. When we got on a ride he would just have a blank face, starring at everything. He was never scarred or happy. Just a blank face, like "what is going on?" face. It was hilarious. But we went again yesterday and he was much more expressive and excited to go on rides (see pictures below)
There is a big group of girls in this area who have them which makes the day even more fun. We tried to get a picture of the 13 or so kids. We were quite the attraction!
I love spending time with this guy. He is so fun and so happy. Love you Beckster.

boring post

Just a warning this post is more of journal entry. Just to remember what has happened at the end of november and all of december. It is going to be a long one cause so many things have happened. So here we go.
We drove out to utah for Tyson's wedding and made a pit stop in St. George where my parents were staying for the week of thanksgiving. It was short and sweet but we went on a beautiful hike and then finished the rest of our drive to eagle mountain.
We went to the wedding and had thanksgiving for the next week. (already blogged about that) We then came home and Beck was sleeping so well, like 12 hours a night, for two nights and then our power went out. It was an incredibly cold week for california and we were without power for 6 days. Being a manager my tenants were a little stressed out to say the least. Huge trees all over had fallen down on our power lines and for some reason we were one of the last areas in south pasadena to get it back on. Beck had a little cough and it was getting worse so we slept with him for a couple nights in our bed with tons of blankets and beanies on. I took a shower at a friends house and we stayed the night with them so grateful! But then we decided to head down to my parents and just get away from all the cold. Here is an example of a tree that had fallen. (that is a grown kid on top of it) it was nuts!
but it was nice to go down south we stopped by the beach and watched the sunset. There is just something magical about the ocean. I feel alive and happy and all is well. I forgot about the last couple of days completely and just enjoyed the moment.
Until the next day when Beck got a fever of 103. His little body was on fire! And he just wanted to lie on me all day long. I kind of loved it. But i knew he was in pain so i wanted to help him. I called the doctors and they told me what to do and just keep watching it. So the next morning it was back down to 99 and then later that day jumped up to 102 again. This poor little guy =[ it was so sad, just look at his face...
We went to the doctors and realized it wasn't just a fever...this poor kid had a laundry list of things.
  • He had an ear infection that has lasted a month and the antibiotics that we were given never really cleared it up. So we had to get something stronger.
  • And the first antibiotic that he took for his ear gave him a yeast infection. Which he had all over his diaper area and some blisters on the back of his throat (causing a lack of appitite) so he was losing weight.
  • His molars were coming in.
  • He had a little rash on his body called Rosela(?) i think. just little red spots all over that is usually the aftermath of high temp. but just goes away
  • And to top it off. He had pneumonia! They had to take x-rays of his little lungs and one of them was all cloudy. So we had to give him an inhaler three times a day. And hold it on his mouth for 6 breaths. It was awful.
Four days later we packed our bags (again) and headed out to Oklahoma. The medicines were working great. So grateful for modern day medicine. I feel like we packed our lives for 3 weeks. I kept shoving more and more into our suitcases. Each of our bags were 50-53 lbs. Plus all of our carry-ons. Anyways we brought a lot, too much. We got to Oklahoma and the first night we were there Beck threw up. We cleaned him up and he went back to sleep, he seemed fine and was super happy the next morning. We went on with our day just normally until that night I got incredibly sick. I think it was a 24 hr flu or maybe food poising? Not sure. But I spent the entire night in the bathroom. It was awful. I hadn't been that sick for years. Pehrson's mom is an amazing baker and she had all these wonderful treats and I had to resort to saltine crackers and top ramon for the first two days. But luckily it went away monday night and tuesday morning we left for New York. Pehrson's dad got sick and then his sister Rachel got sick. I felt bad cause I was probably the one who brought it into the house. But it didn't last too long! Which was nice. New York was wonderful. We had so much fun and missed our little Beckster like crazy but we were getting daily updates and pictures and we knew he was in good hands. He missed us and we missed him so we were ready to get back and squeeze him. We spent the next 11 days in Oklahoma. We had so much fun. We celebrated Beck's 1st birthday and I made him this cake. Very boy!
We went bowling and to the park. We played tennis and wallyball and raquetball. It was cold outside, but we had a few really nice days.
Christmas morning was so fun. And Beck got really good at opening gifts (he got a little spoiled! thanks!) I love this picture of daddy and B reading. He is just soaking everything up like a sponge right now and we are loving it.
We told Pehrson's family we were pregnant on Christmas day and it was awesome. We got a really big box and put pink, blue and white balloons inside. We wrote on there TO: Rachel From: Beck. We told them to open it last. Pehrson is usually known in his family to give the joke gift so I could tell they weren't expecting anything like what it was. She opened it and the balloons popped out and on the strings hung some ultrasound pictures and that picture of B holding the pregnancy test. She had no idea what was going on. She just thought it was a picture of B's ultrasound. It was awesome. We told them to look at what Beck is holding and the date of the ultrasound picture. HA they finally got it and were so excited! It was totally unexpected and it will be grandbaby #2 for the Hawkley's. I am so mad that I didn't take any pictures. I was too anxious I guess. But there is a lot of love in that family and I am so lucky to be a part of it.

We came back on the 27th and meet up with my family that afternoon at the beach for our family pictures. I had talked to the photographer earlier and told her my plan. Towards the end of the shoot. She lined us all up and said, "okay everyone repeat after me. You have to say exactly what I say" she then said, "Beck's gonna be a big brother!" Everyone started repeating it and then slowly realized WHAT?!?!! Then everyone started screaming and hugging and laughing and I'm sure there are some great shoots. I haven't seen them yet, but i will post later once I see it. But she couldn't have done it better. She said it so clearly. It was perfect. We are so excited to have our little family of 3 become 4.
And here is a sample of one of our pictures. It is so fun that all of my siblings have found their match. Families are forever and I am so grateful for both of mine!
We had our Christmas dinner and opened gifts that night. My mom gave us the best gift this year, it is truly priceless. She put together a book of each one of our weddings, all 4 of us in the same book so we can have it forever. And my favorite part was that she added a page of her and my dads wedding. It brought a tear to my eye and made me realize how awesome love is. Thanks mom for such a thoughful gift I can't wait to show my kids someday. The next day we went to Six Flags. And since im pregnant I couldn't ride any of the rides, which was kind of a bummer. BUT I spent some quality time with the Beckster and rode all the kiddie rides with him. He had absolutely no expression on any of the rides. Just kind of sat there. But then when we got off he would point to it over and over again. It was awesome.
Grandma got these cute boys matching jackets. But we couldn't get a picture of them all looking so here is one from the backside.
And the next 4 days were spent at the beach. It has been in the 80's here and we just can't get enough of it.
One of the benefits of living in Pasadena is that we can walk to the Rose Parade and that is what we did. The night before the parade they put most of the floats out on the street and anyone can walk around and look at them. They are beautiful and the atmosphere is so fun. Everyone is excited and there are hundreds of people on the street. It was exciting.
And the next day we had a friend call us and said they had an extra seat right up close. We really lucked out. There were so many people there and we were able to squeeze into probably the last spot possible. It was so fun. Beck loved dancing to the bands and looking at the floats. We just loved watching him. =]
It was a gorgeous, hot day! And so we spent it outside. We went on this beautiful hike in the Pacific Palisades. I will definitely have to do that one again. The view was great.

here is the belly @ 16 weeks.
We love having Pehrson for 3 weeks with no school. Now we are back into the swing of things and having to be responsible. I love the holidays but this weather is getting me excited for summer and a new baby. Happy new year everyone hope it is a good one!
