halloween

It was a spooky halloween in the Hawkley household this year. When Pehrson was younger and watched the movie Karate Kid he always wanted to dress up like a skeleton. Well every year I always talked him into doing something else. But this year I said we can do whatever he wants so skeletons it was...beck with his scary face on
Us at the trunk or treat...I know we look very creepy...but we had to go all or nothing.
some of the cute kids
fellow skeletons. except they are the much sweeter looking ones. HA (look how cute she made her skelton costume with her little baby inside, very clever)
It was Beck's first halloween and I would say it was a success. Although bittersweet for us, because I haven't been trick or treating for years and we finally have an excuse to go again and get some free candy. But Pehrson and I made a challenge with each other to see if we could go without candy for a year and we are only two months away. So next halloween is going to be just that much better. (i know we're crazy)

And I don't think Beck really understood what was going on but he was happy and loved being outside looking at all the people and the lights. And he sure made one cute little skeleton.
I'm glad we could fulfill Pehrsons dream of being a skeleton and I was actually something scary for once. So until next year...let the planning begin.

Our mini vaca.

So pehrson had a dental conference in Las Vegas last week for SPEA (student professional ethics association) They meet with other dental schools from all over and talked about how they can make things better in school and later in the workforce. I tagged along and spent some time with the other wives lounging by the pool and shopping at the outlet stores.

I really don't think they can get much cuter than this!
We stayed with our friends Tanner and Cami in their beautiful home. And meet their cute new baby Wyatt. Then we went up to St. George to visit family and stay with Pehrson's Aunt and Uncle in their beautiful home. They have 4 boys and 1 girl and their house is always full of neighborhood kids. I love it. I hope my house is like that someday. Just a bunch of rowdy kids running around. And their oldest cousin Pehrson was there to wrestle with them, which they loved. HA.
Our time in st. george was perfect it was relaxing and i got to be with pehrson 24/7. We went on a couple of hikes. Our first one was to snow canyon. It was very pretty and very bizarre they had red rock, white rock and lava (black) rock. Like what you see on the big island but its in the middle of st. george, Ut! But it made for some nice pictures.
look at that face, he was loving it!
Beck LOVEs to drive the car and daddy loves to play tricks so this is what it looks like when you combine them together.
Are you sick of pictures yet? Well i have some more so stick with me (if you want). That night Aunt Jenny offered to watch Beck while Pehrson and I went to see "the Help" (LOVED IT) when i went up to pay, the ticket lady said okay thats $12. And i said for two??? I was shocked. It was awesome. California is a rip-off. P and I only go to the cheap theater here cause it just gets to pricy. But $12 for two at night. It made the movie just that much better. Then the next day we decided to go to Zions National Park. It was the first time for me, that i remember. And it was a beautiful day, the views were breath taking. The first hike we did was "the narrows" we never did any research we just thought this one sounded like a pretty one. And it was! But we got to the beginning of the water and saw all these people putting on dry suits and huge water shoes. We decided we would just go and see how far we could get. The water was cold. But it was so pretty. We reached a point where the water was waist deep and that's where we turned around. So next time we will come more prepared. But it was still worth it none the less.
After the narrows. We decided to do another hike called "emerald pools" which was also really pretty. Look at this view.
It was way past nap time but there were too many cool things to look at Beck wouldn't fall asleep. He was getting cranking so we had a cracker break.
And then he finally fell asleep.
We went out to eat that night and then left the next day back to vegas for an Air Force meeting at the Nellis AFB. We got to vegas around 3 and did some walking around on the strip, cause it's been a long time for both of us. There are so many people there (and it was a thursday afternoon) We walked through some cool hotels, looked at some fun buildings, saw a lot of wierd people. It was fun. And we went to the Las Vegas temple. I love the spirit you feel there amongst so much evil that's around you. Just like the LA temple.
Later that night we meet up and stayed with our other good friends, Tyler and Sara. It was a short and sweet visit. But hopefully we will be neighbors next year!! After the Air Force conference on friday we made our way back to LA. I love traveling and being away from reality, but I was excited to get Beck back on his healthy nap schedule and not making him have to take his naps in his car seat. It was a great trip and so fun to just be with my little family of 3. Beck did way better than I thought in the car. We tried to travel during sleeping times, so that helped but we were both very impressed.

It was a great trip.

oooo down in mexicooo...

Pehrson and the crew went down to Rosarito, Mexico to do some dental work at an elementary school. They helped a lot of kids and a few adults. They stayed in these cute little homes by the beach (called "Las Gaviotas"...sp?) and of course had some perfect waves right out their door.
Not to shabby...
The group.
He came home raving about this place and said that we have to go back there. It is cheap and safe and you are right on the beach. Sounds good to me...who's in?

And while daddy was gone B and I played in the rain one day.
And the beach the next.

It was fun but we always love when Pehrson gets home.

10 months

Weight: 18.8 lbs (10th percentile)
Height: 29 in (60th percentile)

So i went to the doctors and got Beck checked out. He hasn't been in a while and I never weigh him so i was excited to see how much he weighed. Only 1.5 lbs more than his 6 month appointment. The doctor came in and said..."let me guess this boy is pretty active, uh?" You're right doc. He never stops moving unless he is asleep. Which explains his low weight. She also told me to feed him a little more. I feel like I feed him all the time, but i guess i need to step it up. Here are a few new things that he has done this month.

-took his first roadtrip to vegas and st. george and actually did pretty well.
-has started doing a fake laugh. It's more like a sympathy laugh. hilarious.
-he doesn't clap yet but whenever i try and put his hands together to clap he interlocks his fingers and wont let me pull them apart
-still walking a lot but not 100% on his own yet
-is an early riser.
-figured out how to open up drawers and cabinets and pull everything out...it's awesome.
-can climb up the slide at the park and the stairs
-and can walk up the stairs with railings
-loves story time
-hates brushing his teeth
-loves fruit...not vegetables
-is a lover. whenever he sees little kids he just wants to hug and kiss them. It is the cutest thing even though im sure he is stepping into their personal space
-And probably my favorite thing ever is that he has started doing this cheesy smile, where he crinkles up his nose. I LOVE IT!!
He is one happy boy and is more fun every day.
